FAQ 7: Installation
Residential installations
How much experience does Ideal Drape Makers have in installing window treatments? What assurances do I have that they will perform the installation with the utmost care?
Ideal Drape Makers is a second generation family of Window Treatment Specialists. Our installers regularly receive training and product updates from our supplier vendors.
Installations are performed with all due care and diligence. It is the property owner's responsibility to advise of any hazards or obstructions either before or at the time of installation as Ideal Drape Makers will not be held responsible for damages arising from incidents such as the damaging of hidden wiring, water pipes, air conditioning conduits or other hazards, the existence of which, we are not made aware.
Rest assured that our installers are amongst the most experienced in the industry and take neither short-cuts, or proceed with elements of the installation, if doubts exist as to the risk of material damage to your property.
Please be advised that it is against health and safety regulations for our installers to work without appropriate protective footwear. They will, however, make every effort to ensure that their footwear is clean prior to entering your premises.
Although our installers will sometimes remove pre-existing window treatments as as a courtesy. Pulling down or dismantling existing window treatments is normally subject to addition charges. Please ensure you either remove window treatments that are to be replaced prior to the arrival of our installers or ensure that arrangements for our installers to remove pre-existing window treatments is discussed with Ideal Drape Makers at the time of the Installation scheduling.
How long does an installation take?
The time allocated for installation will depend entirely on the number of windows for which treatments are to be installed, the style or type of window treatment(s) to be installed and the placement of the windows requiring the new window treatments.
Often it is difficult to give anything other than a general indication as we cannot foresee all problems that may arise during the installation of your window treatment(s) and which might add to the time it takes to complete your order installation.
Our installers take the utmost care and pride in their installation work and will work as efficiently as possible to ensure that the work is performed to the highest of standards without being rushed. Badly fitted window treatments, due to a rushed installation, are a recipe for customer dissatisfaction and return visits from the installer responsible for the fitting of your window treatments. Regardless of how well made a window treatment is, a primary determination in customer satisfaction and product error free operation is the quality of the installation of the treatment in the first instance.
Can I have part installs performed?
Different window treatment styles can take a varying amount of time to manufacture and/or supply. Additionally, customers may have requirements for the phased delivery of window treatments such as in cases where they are holding a special event, re-decorating on a room by room basis, or building either a new home (or extending an existing property).
In some cases delays occur beyond the control of IDM. For example, where fabric and / or materials and components are out of stock and on backorder.
In all cases Ideal Drape Makers will work with you to provide maximum flexibility to assist you. There will always be, however, a limitation placed on the speed at which an order may be manufactured / supplied and fitted.
Where delays due to stock availability occur after the time of order placement, Ideal Drape Makers is happy to discuss with the customer whether they would like the installation of any completed window treatments, with the remaining window treratments to be delivered as soon as available.
If you require a phased delivery of specific window treatments on your order, please consult and advise Ideal Drape Makers at the time of placing your order and we will endeavour to accommodate reasonable requirements, if it is within our ability to do so.
Likewise, Ideal Drape Makers will always undertake to advise you of a delay to your order at any stage during order fullfillment. This advise will also be given if we know of a delay at the time you place your order, giving you the opportunity of either selecting alternatives to the delayed fabrics, materials or components, dleaying the placement of your order, or cancelling your order prior to deposit.
Commercial Installations

Ideal Drape Maker Installers are frequently engaged in the installation of window treatments for commercial projects. As such they are experienced at working within the constraints of reasonable deadlines as dictated by building project schedules, and work well in cooperation with other tradespeople also engaged by the project.
There are times where other delayed project tasks are in the critical path for window treatment installation. We will always advise project management if this is the case and work with the project manager to resolve the issue, if possible (For example if a work-around or other mitigation is possible).
Working with others. - Trade or Design Professionals?
Will your installers work to a strict project schedule?

I am a Trade or Design Professional. Am I subject to the same terms and conditions as your retail customers?
Tthe nature of your engagement and the work to be undertaken by Ideal Drape Makers will determine the conditions that apply to the business transactions.
For example, If you have requested that Ideal Drape Makers purchase fabrics, materials or components and these orders have already been placed by us then the policy govering changes, alterations, refunds as they are subject to retail customers will apply.

Where you have requested that Ideal Drape Makers purchase your fabrics, materials or componentary, these must be paid in fulll prior to Ideal Drape Makers processing your order.

Manufacturing, check-measures, and install charges/invoices are due and payable in full prior to pickup or installation of your order.

For large orders a deposit may be required as a condition of accepting your order. This will be treated on a case by case basis.

Written cancellations will only be accepted.

Cancellation of orders will only be accepted if manufacture of goods has not commenced.

As soon as your order reaches the stage where it is nearing completion, rest assured we will call you and let you know without delay. Giving you as much notice as possible gives allows us to perform the installation with a minimum of disruption to you and your household. It also provides notice to you should you be intending to pay the balance of the order by cheque or EFT which can sometimes take several days for the funds to clear in our account. We'll be excited and we know you will too!
Finally one or more of our expert and experienced installers will be at your doorstep - The big day has arrived!
Rest assured, our installers are not only experts in window treatment installations, taking the utmost care with their work; they are also very polite, and friendly - So do not hesitate to ask them 1001 questions if you have them. Also, they will explain to you what they will be doing before they do it, so you understand all aspects of any changes they make to your property.
Don't dare say it to their faces, but our installers have a tendency to be overly neat and tidy about their work so you need not worry about any mess being left behind.
Your curtain treatments have been expertly installed, they look fabulous, and you've made a new friend of the installer who has left his card with a sincere request that should you have any questions or problems with your new curtain treatments that you should call.
